The Night He Saved Me

Review: The Night He Saved Me - Saved By Love Series - Sarah Stevens - 2016

When Kat's brother ends up in prison , her mother makes the decision to move Kat and herself to New Hampshire and start a new life. During this time her mother meets a new guy Kyle and end up getting married. Kat starts playing up and rebelling and makes a new friend at school called Bren. Her friend Bren is into the party scene and Kat starts experimenting with drugs and alcohol. At one of her very first parties, Kat ends up being sexually assaulted. This leaves Kat running out of the party and into the eyesight of James- the sexy cafe owner. I really liked the character of James as Sarah Stevens had written him as a genuinely sweet character and you can read that he cared for Kat and wasn't going to force himself into her path. He wanted her but you could see it wasn't just for sex, he really loved her and it was so nice and refreshing to read a novel where the guy's niceness and personality really stood out from the pages. It made me want a James for myself. Later Kat finds out that her life's plans after high school are thwarted as she is pregnant due to the sexual assault. However, once again James steps up to the plate to help her but at her own pace. He is there standing in the shadows for when she needs saving. Can James prove to Kat that he is there for her and the baby 100% and that no matter how hard she pushes him away, he would go to the moon and back for her? The Night He Saved Me has some edgy scenes from rape, violence and drugs/alcohol but overall felt like a clean-ish YA/NA crossover read as it had no cursing and the sex was brushed over.
