Review: Killer Content - Kiley Roache
Review: Killer Content- Kiley Roache - November 2021
I was captivated by the cover
of this book as I love my YA thrillers. Reading this book reminded me of the
book One of Us is Lying as we meet a group of TikTok influencers who have over
the summer decided to spend summer break in a house and film from there. We
have six students from all walks of life with one thing in common - they all
have high views on TikTok. All goes well until two of the Tiktoker's end
up in a massive fight and Sydney walks out. Now, Cam, Gwen, Tucker, Ben,
and Kat are waiting for Sydney to head back home but what happens when one
morning they all wake up to find Sydney's body face down in the swimming pool
with a bullet hole in the side of her head? All of them are a suspect
especially when a video about the murder comes out from their account. With
each of them hiding secrets and trying to keep the facades up for the world -
will each of them slowly crumble? Who killed Sydney or is something more
sinister at play? Killer Content is set in the world of social influencers and
perfect for the teen audience today and for those of us readers in our mid 30's
who might not have read One of Us is Lying by Karen McManus, the book also
reminded me of Ben Elton's book -Dead Famous which was set in a Big Brother
type reality show and set around a contestant being found murdered. I have
always loved this type of theme for books and as I said this is the perfect YA
thriller for any social media fan who loves reading. I also liked the new title
change as was originally going to be called “Murder at Hype House” but Killer
Content sounded catchier.
