Synopsis

When he was only eight, Alexander St. Claire moved from London to a little town in Alicante, to a summer colored with green and the music of the ‘90s. On the other side of the swimming pool, in the house across the street, lived five-year-old Priscila Cabana.

He taught her to count and to swim and to hold her breath. He colored her summers and she loved him from that first moment.

She was his angel in the darkness, his Queen of the Desert.
And then one summer afternoon, she just . . . left.

Four years later, her beloved Mediterranean Sea, the sun, the water, and her brother’s wedding call Priscila back to her hometown. To her family, and the places she loves. But she also comes back to . . . Alex.

Alex, who wants nothing to do with her. Whose eyes reflect only resentment and hostility. Who is still her husband.

What happened that last summer?

About the Author

Susanna Herrero was born in Bilbao in 1980. She has a double degree in Law and Economics and her job forced her to spend many hours in a car, traveling. All those solo trips and her great imagination colluded to create the characters that would later become the main protagonists of her first saga: Los saltos de Sara. Passionate about reading ever since she first read The Neverending Story at the age of ten, she’d never thought of writing her own books, but she couldn’t turn her back on her characters either. Now she has exchanged car trips for literature, ever since her passion for the Mediterranean Sea, a certain little town in Alicante and a blank page made her fly hopelessly to the Cabana series and its five books: Aquel último verano (That Last Summer), El chico de la última fila, La última vez que vi llover, El último lugar en la tierra and Somos el último verano. In 2020, her novel Y el mundo no dejaba de girar won the Jaén Prize for Young Adult Narrative, which was a great recognition of her work and a turning point in her career.

Susanna Herrero now ventures into the anglo-saxon market with That Last Summer, book one in a Mediterranean series about a family of five siblings and their sunny and sexy love stories.
