Witches of East End (The Beauchamp Family)
Review: Witches of East End - The Beauchamp Family Book #1- Melissa De La Cruz - June 2011
Are Witches to be the next Vampires ? It seems , that in the world of Television and Literature - witches are starting to pop up with many new shows being released with Witches especially with Season 4 of True Blood taking a dive to the world of Faeries and Witches. We had LJ Smith's Vampire Diaries and now we are moving onto a TV Series based on her Magic series "The Secret Circle". Books about Witches are being released with Wicked Girls and The Surrvivors and now Melissa De La Cruz , an author that has touched real-life teens , vampires and angels is moving into the world of Witches with the release of her new series "The Beauchamp Family" starting with Book #1 -The Witches of East End . As a fan of witch novels and tv shows and a big fan of Melissa De La Cruz, when I read about her new book I just had to read it and I'm glad I did. In a way it reminded me a cross between The Witches of Eastwick and Sabrina the Teenage Witch and I guessed if I had been part of the older generation - Bewitched may have slipped in there . The Witches of East End follows the lives of a mother Joanna and her two daughters Freya and Ingrid- all three have a secret, they are witches who were banned from using magic centuries ago. However, it seems that the centre of North Hampton are about to have a wake-up call as enemies in the form of two brothers Bran and Killian Gardiner are back for revenge and they won't stop until they have tarnished the girls names. We also get a surprise twist in the novel as it seems the Beauchamp family have more members than they are letting on .
A fun novel with the 21st century input and twists and turns that are suprising to the readers and what I really loved was a guest appearance from one of the Blue Bloods Characters. I so can't wait for the 2nd book in the series.
