Review: The Right Swipe - Alisha Rai

The Right Swipe (Modern Love, #1)

Review: The Right Swipe - Book #1 Modern Love Series - Alisha Rai - August 2019
After reading some mysteries and sexy romances, I was in the mood for a meet-cute chick-lit type read.  Our book starts when we meet Rhiannon who has gone undercover to meet her competition before the big panel interview tomorrow on live TV.  After being humiliated by her former boss at Swype, Rhiannon decided to create with the help of her best friend a new company called Crush and in doing so she put up some nicely guarded walls around her heart as not to be hurt again. Crush's #1 competition is an OG dating site called Matchmaker which deals in surveys and matching people on compatibility and algorithms. Their owner Annabelle also happens to be a recluse. Imagine though her surprise when the one guy whom she let her walls down for and then he ghosted her, turns out to be Samson Lima - Annabelle's nephew. Samson tried to find her but of course by then she had deleted her profile and it doesn't help that she had used her middle name "Claire".  During the book, we read as Samson tries to win Rhiannon's love back and get her to give him a second chance. We also learn a lot more about Rhiannon's background and why she is the way she is - a successful businesswoman and a recluse like Annabelle and that she may have more in common with Samson's aunt than she realizes. I have to admit The Right Swipe by Alisha Rai was a slow-burn romance but it wasn't a book that I had to persevere as I loved all the characters especially Annabelle's eccentricity.  If you are on the lookout for a mixed-race meet-cute read by an author of color then check out The Right Swipe by Alisha Rai today. Fans of Jasmine Guillory's series The Wedding Date and Alexa Martin's Playbook series will feel right at home with Alisha Rai's The Right Swipe.
