Review: A Danger to Herself and Others - Alyssa Sheinmel - February 2019
Hannah has had her whole life
planned right down to the small details, that is until she finds herself stuck
in an institution. Her best friend is lying in a coma in the hospital and she
has been accused of trying to kill her. So her best friend stole the guy she
loved - Jonah, but they were playing a game and her friend fell, she definitely
didn't push her. Now though she is being treated as crazy and being considered
a danger to herself and others. Hannah now must use her skills of
persuasion that made her excellent in life to persuade the doctors that she is
well enough to head back to the summer program and apply for colleges, as the
only thing important to Hannah is her grades and whether she gets into an
amazing college. During her stay at the ward, Hannah is roomed with a girl
called Lucy who has an eating disorder as she is a ballet dancer. During
the stay, Lucy will have Hannah revealing her secrets and starting to confront
the truth about what really happened that Summer with her roommate and soon
Hannah will have her eyes cleared from the fog that has been following her for
the past few years and hopefully be able to finally decipher reality from
fantasy. A Danger to Herself and Others by Alyssa Sheinmel touches on the
issues of Mental Illnesses and how it can sneak up on those who you least
expect to and it pushes the reminder that it is alright to ask for help, asking
doesn't make you any less of a person.
