Review: Daydream - Hannah Grace

Review: Daydream - Book #3 Maple Hills Series - Hannah Grace - August 2024

This is a hard review to write as I'm still not quite sure where exactly I sit on this book, but today it will be a 4-star read. Icebreaker - I adored and Wildfire- was average. This one I feel sits between the two of them and I think this is solely because of my ability to relate to both characters with Halle's bookish side and the family responsibility/mediator and then Henry with his neurodivergence side as I grew up in a family with a dad who has ADHD and then a mum and two siblings who both are on the Autism spectrum. I was never diagnosed but picked up a few traits as how couldn't I, living in my household growing up. Ever since I read Icebreaker and met the character Henry, I was in love with him and so this is the book I had been waiting for since first reading Icebreaker in November last year. Henry is captaining this year the Ice Hockey team and is trying his best to be there for everyone except he finds himself on shaky ground with the coach as he happens to be failing one of his classes - Professor Thornton's. He needs to get his grade up or he might just lose his Ice Hockey all together. Enter Halle, she is Henry's new friend who strikes up a deal - she will help Henry with his class if he can give her experiences to write about in her book as Halle has never experienced true romance or life. Of course, as the book goes along, we can all guess what will happen as readers - the lines get blurred hearts become heavily involved and the fake romance turns into a potential real romance. However, it wouldn't be a drama-filled read without a jerk interfering ex-boyfriend aka Will, and family members aka Halle's family. One thing I did love too with Henry and Halle's story is that it reflected neurodivergence in a relationship with space needed, emotions and communication misread and the ability to take things slow and at a normal pace for them as myself personally, I am in a relationship with someone who is an undiagnosed aspie and at times it can get frustrating but I am patient with him.  Overall, a great 3rd book in the Maple Hills series, and I look forward to seeing where Hannah Grace takes us next in her writing journey.
