Review: Just Call Me Ninja - Clare Haltom
Review: Just Call Me Ninja - Clare Haltom - April 2014
Callista Trent has always preferred to stay invisible and with her mother's job it's easy as she never stays in one place for long. Callista's mother is a travel writer , this move though is going to be a bit longer as her mother has been commissioned to write a book about the town. So now Callista is being forced to live in a podunk town and even worst attend a public school where because of her accent etc she is being nicknamed Eastern Bloc. While out saving a neighbour's cat one day, Callista stumbles upon a secret society - a training area for Ninjas who do missions in the small town and they want Callista on their team. Callista on the other hand, doesn't want anything to do with Ninjas, she's not even sure Ninja's are really a thing. With the persuasion of cute guy Nick who of course sort-of ends up being Callista's love interest - or at least one of them, she reluctantly joins the group of Ninja's and starts her training. Finally she gets a "real mission" of her own, simply retrieve a laptop containing a list of Rebels. Though she will be in for a surprise as the laptop contains history about her and things to do with her past. One of the main threads throughout the book is the mysterious identity of Callista's father and all will be revealed during the novel and trust me , when you near the discovery ... it will be exciting. I am now hoping that author Clare Haltom decides to write a sequel as there are a few unanswered questions in the last chapter.
Just Call Me Ninja by Clare Haltom is a fun tween/teen novel and will be enjoyed by all those girls out there who have ever dreamed about becoming a Ninja or a Secret Spy.
