Review: Demon Road - Derek Landy

Demon Road (Demon Road, #1)

Review: Demon Road - Book #1 Demon Road Series - Derek Landy - August 2015

From the writer of the teen series Skulduggery Pleasant , author Derek Landy has decided to write a new series called "Demon Road". Reading this book, though it is ideally aimed at teens and young adults , it is a book that if you fall into the "adult" reading category and love your authors like Kelley Armstrong, Chloe Neill, Keri Arthur and Charlaine Harris , then you will feel right at home with Demon Road as the content isn't really apporpiate for younger audiences as I found it is quite a dark novel with parents eating their children in order to stay young and have eternal life to demonic cars that eat people in order to stay alive. Reading this book, I actually could imagine it like the TV series "Supernatural" and the main guy Milo reminded me of Jensen Ackles's character Dean. In Demon Road, we meet Amber who has just turned sixteen and discovered that her parents and their friends are Demons and that hundreds of years ago they made a deal with a demon called The Shining Demon to live eternally. In order for this to happen, each couple takes turn in having a child and then raising it till they reach sixteen , killing the child and eating them. It seems Amber is too strong-willed to let this happen and with the help of her newfound friends Milo - Ghost of the Highway and Glen - who is trying to get rid of the Deathmark so he can live , she will try and make her own pact with the Shining Demon for her life.
Demon Road is quite a big book, but do not let that put you off reading it as once you begin you will not want to put it down and it will also open your mind to all the different supernatural creatures out there in the world as the threesome met various ones along their road trip down Demon Road.
