This Book Will Change Your Life

Review: This Book Will Change Your Life - Amanda Weaver - September 2015

Hannah has always loved and dreamed of being a Chemist just like her mother was before she died and her father is now and so she begins her college life as a Chemistry major studying Honors Chem. After she fails her first major test , she is distraught and she heads out and finds herself standing in a secondhand bookshop "Promethus Books". It is here that she meets Ben , he is nearly finished his English Lit degree and is preparing for Law School to follow in his family's footsteps - the thing is though that he doesn't want to - he wants to go to Grad School and earn his MA and become a Professor as he sees Books as a way to change your life for the better. Hannah isn't one who reads , so she tells Ben to give her a book - any book and soon this turns into a weekly occurrence. As the novel goes along ,we read as Ben and Hannah get closer and we hope they connect romantically - the thing is though that Ben has a long hidden crush on Alex who is his best friend and she works across the road at the coffee shop. What he doesn't realise though is that it is Hannah who he can bare his soul too and who he wants to share the world with. Can Ben decide who he wants to be with before it's too late and he picks the wrong girl ? Though just when things start to look up for both Ben and Hannah - the pair crash and burn as Hannah views Ben as a coward and a heretic. This Book Will Change Your Life is basically a journey novel , a novel that shows in order to Change your life you have to take a chance and no matter what the consequences will be , it is more important to be happy in life doing something you adore than be miserable and stuck doing something you hate just to please someone else .  If you are a book lover then you will love this book as it touches on a few awesome stories and novels which I loved the little reflections and quotes from. This has made me also think about things as I believe if I could have re-done University I would have studied English Lit and gone on to that side of life.
