Review: Withering Rose - Book #2 Once Upon a Curse Series - Kaitlyn Davies - May 2016
For those who have read the first book in this series, you will recall that an Earthquake struck and combined the world of Magic and Fairy tales with Earth and those who fell through the cracks into earth had to live with a world that hated and hunted Magic . Omorose was one of those Magical beings, before the Earthquake struck she was on her way to a neighbouring kingdom to marry the Prince even though they were both only seven years old. The Earthquake then struck and Omorose and her father were transported to Earth. During this time Omorose felt her mother die, which meant that the family's magical powers of nature were passed on to her. This power though came with a curse that every time she used it - a part of her soul would die. The faster her power went, the quicker she faded away. Hoping for help with her magic when she was now 17 years old , Omorose headed into the forest to sought out the "Beast" but what will happen when she arrives at the Castle and all is not what it seems ? One of my favourite themes to read about is renditions of fairy tales and classic stories which is where Withering Rose comes in as it is a reversal version of Beauty and the Beast which is #2 on my list of Favourite Fairy tales. Can the Beast help break Omorose's curse ? Or will she like in the movie Frozen realize the only way to save the ones she loves and cares about and to break the curse is to self-sacrifice herself ?
Find out in this awesome fairytale rendition of Beauty and the Beast - "Withering Rose" by Kaitlyn Davies.
