Review: Leather and Lark - Book #2 The Ruinous Love Trilogy - Brynne Weaver - June 2024

Last year in November, I read a fun new Dark Romance/ Comedy that featured two serial killers and a page of trigger warnings called Butcher and Blackbird. I loved it as it was fun and different as most of the serial killer books, I read are thriller and murder related without any hints of humor.  Lark and Leather is the story of Lark (Sloane’s best friend) and Lachlan (Rowan's brother).  Lark comes from two crime families and she is secretly following in their footsteps as what she calls a "Multiple deleter" - the job she sees is to get rid of the child molesters etc and since she loves pretty things like glitter and resin, arts, and crafts - she turns her victims into furniture and household items like coasters. When Lark overhears her parents talking about the Kane Brothers and how they are a threat, she knows that there is only one thing she can do - fake marry Lachlan Kane - the guy she loves to hate. As the pair enter their marriage, they team up together to find out who is hunting Lark's family but it also looks like there is someone else to be worried about as there is another killer with Rowan and Sloane in his sight aka The Phantom as they took someone from him in Book #1 and now, he wants revenge, an eye for an eye. I am now looking forward to reading Book #3 Scythe and Sparrow which is Fionn and Rose's story.

  Review: Punk 57 - Penelope Douglas - October 2016 As soon as I read Bully by Penelope Douglas, I was in love with this author. So when she released a new one who had my favorite theme of penpals and that whole friend to lovers going on, I knew I had to read it. The book started out with a bit of background where we learned about how Misha and Ryen were placed together in a classroom project penpal program. The pair continues to write to each other right through the year, and then they take it to the next level and continue through the rest of their schooling.
