Review: Missing Parts - Lucinda Berry - September 2016

Have you ever read a book that has made you feel super angry after you have finished it? For me, it can be very rare for me to feel angry in general life as I try to stay positive and optimistic and live a happy life, but after reading Missing Parts by Lucinda Berry, God it made me feel so much anger and this was one of those reads where the bad guy frickin wins. I had to scream when this book finished and I was F You David, that is how mad and wild it made me feel. The book starts with Celeste and David finally having a miracle baby after trying for years and having an array of miscarriages etc. Celeste though seeing as she is the main earner, goes back to work and David is a stay-at-home dad. In one way, we did see that by doing this their daughter attached more to David rather than Celeste and we could see Celeste trying but she just couldn't connect with her daughter. When her daughter is diagnosed with fatal kidney failure, Celeste must come clean about who her daughter's actual biological father is. You see Celeste was raped and the daughter was a product of a night she would rather forget. From the get-go, David believes that Celeste cheated on him and even when she told him the truth, he rang the guy and when he of course denied it - David took the random guy's side rather than his wife. From that moment, I hated David with a passion and it just went downhill as Celeste b
elieved her daughter was safer with David and she disappeared for a year to try and get her life back on track. When she does reappear, we learn that David has told their daughter Celeste was dead and he has moved on with her best friend. Again it was like what a freaking hypocrite you are David and then he was like to Celeste, you left and can never see your baby ever again like WTF David - who the freak do you think you are. Hence the anger feelings with Missing Parts. I have read a few of Lucinda Berry's and I have noticed a theme where she does tend to lean towards the child and father bonding and the mother being cast as the role as "bad parent", which you do wonder whether it is reflected from past experiences.  If you are a fan of psychological thrillers with a medical twist - then Lucinda Berry's books are for you as we all know that one of the measures of a good book is how it affects and makes us feel once we have finished it whether it be great and happy feelings or the opposite.
