Review : Missing Child - Patricia MacDonald - April 2012
As a fan of mystery fiction and the fact that some of my favourite authors cannot write fast enough, it means that I am always on the constant search for new authors to enjoy. One of those recent discoveries was Patricia MacDonald as you know the Amazon emails that you get - the ones that go "you just brought this, so you might like this " - recently it was Patricia MacDonald's latest book Sisters. It sounded like a good read and then with a bit of research I discovered that she had written others and more awesomenly they were avaliable at the library I work at. So the first one I read was Missing Child and let me tell you this was such an intense and awesome read as we first meet Caitlin and her brother James two years prior and then it flashes forward two years later to Caitlin who is happily married to Noah and has a six year old Stepson Geordie. The novel takes place when Geordie is kidnapped and soon secrets that will connect Caitlin with Noah's ex-wife who was killed years earlier will spill. Are they connected to Geordie's kidnapping or will they reveal a piece to a huge tangled web that has Geordie bang-smack in the middle of ? In a way Missing Child reminded me of the book and film by TD Jakes - On the Seventh Day.
If you are looking for a new author to discover and keep you thrilled and on your toes , then Patricia MacDonald is the woman for you.
