Review: The Dolls - Kiki Sullivan - September 2014

One of the things I love about reviewing and it makes me all giddy is when I get to read books before they are published and The Dolls by Kiki Sullivan is one example as it does not come out till September :) If you have read Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl and loved that series then you will really enjoy "The Dolls" as it reminded me so much of that series  in a way. The Dolls is set in a small-town hidden behind a gate called Carrefour. Years ago when Eveny was a baby, her family lived in this town until her mother died and then Eveny and her aunt moved away to New York. Now years later, Eveny has just turned seventeen and her Aunt Bea has told Eveny they are moving back home.There is something odd about the town though and when people start to die, strange things occur. Eveny is not sure what to make it out to be until she discovers the truth about her mother's death and that she is in fact one of three Queens who has the power of Zandra which was passed on from generation to generation. It seems though that Eveny is the Queen of Queens and her powers are stronger than the others. What happens though when Eveny being back captures the attention of the Main de Lumiere - an assassin that has been sent to kill Eveny and the other queens ?

This was such an awesome and fast-paced read and the ending was a real twist of which I did not see coming. If you love fantasy stories with a mystery element added, then it's time to add "The Dolls" to your TBR  lists.
