Review: If You Are Listening - Aimee Shaye

Review: If You're Listening - Aimee Shaye - March 2017

This book has now been unpublished for the past two years, but I was busy clearing up my kindle and decided to give it a read. I was in the mood for something quick to read and grabbed this short story collection. I have put this book as YA but it does crossover to the NA audience. This collection is a few short stories of people who are screaming to be heard. The stories all center around topics like depression, alcohol and drugs, and self-harm. It shows readers too that sometimes all people need is someone to take a step back and listen to them, as listening could change someone's life forever. Sometimes it is better to remain quiet and hear someone else talking as that's often what they need to survive at that moment rather than having advice chucked down their future at the initial point. The advice can come later when things have calmed down.  It is a shame that this has been unpublished as it was a good read, if you have had it sitting on your kindle for the last few years like myself, I'd say give it a read as it was good and thought-provoking.
