Lindsey Reviews: This Twenty Something Life - Jon Rance
This Twenty
Something Life
Jon Rance
2014
This is a prequel
to John Rance’s immensely popular “This Thirty Something Life.” It tells the story of Harry Spencer who in
two weeks, is about to marry his fiancée Emily and takes the form of a diary. Harry, in the build up to the wedding,
decides to keep a diary (or blog as he prefers, diaries are just sad) to reveal
his innermost thoughts. He tells of the
nervousness he feels, his feelings that he may not be ready for marriage, his
father in law’s dislike of him and more importantly, the accuracy of the weatherman’s
weather reports. Is there life after
marriage? This is an insight into the chaos and emotions in the run up to a
wedding but from a male point of view.
This was just
fab. Harry is hilarious and like a male
Bridget Jones. Harry is immensely
likeable as a character and the escapades he relays on the run up to his big
day are just so wonderfully written and make for some genuine laugh out loud
moments. Indeed, the writer’s portrayal
of his character makes you wish you had
him as a male friend.
Brilliantly
written, hilarious and touching. Perfect
for fans of Tony Parsons and Mike Gayle and those who love male chick lit.
