Review: Beneath the Scars - Melanie Moreland - October 2014

Megan Greene trusted Jared with all her life until he betrayed her by stealing her manuscript and taking it as his own. Threat after threat and back and fro'ing to lawyers, Megan just needs to get away from it all and take some time out for herself and try and re-find her writing muse as the lawyers have said if she can write another book , it will give her a heads up in the case and the law maybe on her side. So Megan takes up her friend Karen's offer to stay at their beach house. Megan arrives and she briefly sees her new neighbour Zachary. The thing is though that he is a recluse and their first meeting she sees him as a rude man. While out and about in town, Megan heads to the local art gallery and sees a painting called "Tempest" signed with the initals ZAD. This painting speaks wonders to her and she wants to buy it, only to discover the owner won't sell it and she discovers that the owner is her horrible neighbour.  Soon after this, Megan decides to strike up a relationship with her neighbour and over time , Zachary starts to open up to Megan and she learns that he doesn't venture out due to his scarred face and body. Was Zachary in an accident or was this done deliberately to him ? As the story goes on we read and in happy thoughts , see Zach and Megan start up a relationship but what will have began , will just as quickly close as Megan's ex gets wind of this and learns about Zachary's past and sets up to expose him and the blame lands on Megan.  Feeling like she has lost the one person she ever truly loved, Megan starts to write again - this time her's and Zachary's story.
