Review: His Scream Queen - Brooklyn Ann - Book #3 - B Mine Series - April 2020


Three years ago when Brittany was in Middle School, she was considered one of the freaks and geeks as she was a plain jane. That is until she discovered in the library some of the occult books and learned the art of spells and witchcraft. She practiced day in and day out until she was able to summon her demon named Scar ( for short). With an animal blood sacrifice, Brittany learned that Scar could grant wishes for her and so she worked her way up the chain to become Queen Bee of the school, leaving behind her old life and everyone in it - including her ex-best friend Jamie Blair. Jamie is now the target of Brittany's bullying tactics and when Brittany goes too far and dumps her boyfriend as he's not "prom king" material. Her ex-boyfriend Lucio decides to get revenge by turning Jamie into Prom Queen material and winning the crown from Brittany as Prom Queen is her dream. This book is also set in the 1980s and has that strong 80s slasher film feel to the book. When Brittany learns of her competition, her sacrifices start to turn to larger livestock and eventually humans as Scar helps her to eliminate everyone in her way of achieving her dream as Prom Queen. What happens though when Scar becomes too powerful and it looks like the 1983-84 Prom is about to turn into a scene from Carrie? Find out in this fun 80s horror-themed read "His Scream Queen" by Brooklyn Ann. Reading this has made me want to go back and check her other two previous stories which are in the same 80s slasher film theme.  His Scream Queen by Brooklyn Ann is perfect for those who grew up enjoying Christopher Pike, Lois Duncan, and RL Stine.

Review: Steel Princess - Book #2 Royal Elite Series - Rina Kent - December 2019 At the end of Book #1, we were left on a cliffhanger of Elsa being pushed into the pool. At the beginning of book #2, she is saved by a newcomer to the school - Knox.  We can see some friendly flirting but nothing more going on between these two, but it riles up Aiden who still has this mindset of "if I can't have her, no-one can" especially since he is supposed to be engaged to Silver Queens. During Book #2 Elsa starts to recall some more memories and goes to Dr.Khan in hopes that he can open her Pandora's box and can restore her full memories of what happened before she was seven years old. This has to be one of my favorite book series out there as the brothers ; you can't help but fall in love with them all - with their funny quirks and their redneck comments.
