Review: In Too Deep - Mara Jacobs
Review: In Too Deep - Book #1 The Freshman Roommates Trilogy - December 2014
Trying to clear my kindle of old titles, I came across In Too Deep by Mara Jacobs. Like most of the books on my kindle, I get them, and then by the time I read them some I have forgotten or have no idea what they are actually about. All I knew with this one judging by the cover was that it was a new adult college fiction read as it talked about freshman and that it was set possibly in a dorm as mentioned roomies. The book starts with our main female character Lily teaching swimming lessons to kids from lower-income homes, one little boy in particular Andy whom we see throughout the book gets picked up by his older brother Lucas. Lily never believed in love at first sight, but she has fallen hard for Lucas. Lucas works as a janitor at a wealthy school and this reminded me of Channing Tatum in Step Up movie when he fell for the rich ballet dancer. The book then introduces us to Jane who has a twisted story of her own and it looks like Lily is roommates with her due to their parents and was sent to be a spy and report back on Jane's actions and make sure she stays out of the spotlight. In Too Deep was an instant attraction novel and one of those reads of opposites attract in terms of class e.g. Lily - upper class, a politician for a father, and Lucas - dead father, poor and a mother in rehab. Can these two who were brought up in completely different upbringings find a middle point and date or are their differences what will keep them apart? Find out in this indie read "In too Deep" which had the OG "New adult" angst feel to the book.
