Review: How to Survive Your Murder - Danielle Valentine

Review: How to Survive Your Murder - Danielle Valentine - August 2022

Alice loves horror movies and everything slashers along with her best friends as she listens to podcasts like Serial and My Favourite Murder. Alice and her friends X, Eli, and Millie are planning to create their podcast show all about "Final Girls" and the way to survive a horror film and be the ultimate Final Girl. One Halloween, Chloe - one of the popular girls decide to host a Halloween party complete with a corn maze. Alice may love horror movies onscreen but in real life, she is a bit of a wuss. On the night of the Halloween maze, Alice's sister Claire enters the maze. Alice gets a little worried as her sister should have been done by now, Alice heads into the maze to see Chloe half dead and her sister being stabbed by Owen Trevor Maddox. One year passes and Owen is being charged with the murder of Claire and the attempted murder of Chloe, Sierra, and Erin as the other two were on a manifesto found by the police belonging to Owen. With Alice as the only witness, she must testify to what she witnessed. What happens though when she makes a wish for her sister back and then starts doubting what she saw that night? Alice is given a second chance to change the course of that Halloween night one year ago. What will happen though when in the process of finding out the truth, she discovers dark secrets, and more people are killed the second time around? Can Alice live with her decisions especially when the true killer is revealed or should she have been happy with the events the first time around? Find out in this fun Groundhog-themed slasher story which reminded me a bit of the Happy Death Day series by Danielle Valentine "How to Survive Your Murder".
