Review: Hello, Beautiful - Ann Napolitano - March 2023

You know how often we end up with books in our possession that we wouldn't normally read, but since we have them - we end up reading them. In my case, this was this month's book that came in April's Subscription book box from The Book Shoppe and wow, this book was amazing. It had initially when I first read it captured my attention with the book being likened to Little Women with the four sisters. The book starts with William - our main male character who sadly was born into a family at the wrong time, as during his birth -his sister Caroline died and his parents both ignored William. He turned his love towards basketball and became practicing and eventually playing professionally for school. Armed with his height and talent, he won a scholarship to college. It was at college, he met not only his best friend Kent but also his first wife Julia and her family. Julia had three other sisters Sylvie, Cecelia, and Emmie. Soon William became a part of their family circle. Over time though cracks appeared, as first Cecelia ended up having a child out of wedlock, then their father Charlie died, Julia got pregnant as she was supposed to be first and thought it would make everything better. This caused rifts in her relationship as William thought he was never good enough for Julia. The pair separate when William leaves and tries to kill himself, entering Sylvie. She found William and soon someone who had no interest in love or marriage finally found her soulmate in William and nurses him back to health. The problem though, is he was Julia's first. This causes a massive rift between Julia and Sylvie and Julia moves away and the family for the first time starts to fracture deeply. The second half of the book is the sisters through the years until Julia gets a call and Sylvie is dying - will this be the moment, she will reunite and bring the family back together, or are the years of resentment too tough to face one another? Find out in this amazing powerful family/ sisterhood saga - Hello, Beautiful by Ann Napolitano. This book also spoke to me on a personal level, as I really connected with Sylvie's character from her love of books and her relationship with William as a lot of her thinking and thoughts and personality were very similar to my own.  If you read only one book for 2023, then Hello, Beautiful by Ann Napolitano needs to be that one book.
