,,,the pain of her and Chris splitting up was nothing compared to what the boy with honey brown eyes upstairs could do to her. “I guess so, yeah- but this is different.”

Still holding his friend’s hand, Leon looked at her. “How well do you know him?”

“Not as well as you do- we’ve only met recently and yesterday was the first time we spent any time together.”

“I see. Is it safe to say that you two didn’t spend a lot of time getting to know each other?”

She set her mouth and disengaged her hand from Leon’s. Friend or not, this conversation was about two questions away from becoming even more embarrassing. What did she know about Terry? Something about wanting to become a student or something. He was in some kind of car accident. Other than that… not much. Except he’s gorgeous. And that she was so attracted to him it scared her. It was …visceral.

She sighed. “It’s a different process, Leon. They don’t call it alternative sexuality for nothing. We met, we agreed on limits and parameters, and we had a … ‘session’, and Terry got hurt.” She set her mouth and looked up at Leon. “And here we are.”

“Fear of the unknown is the worst sort of fear, Nancy. The monster in the closet is always the scariest.”

“What?”
