Review: Falling for Autumn - Book#1 Falling for Autumn Series - Heather Topham Wood - April 2014
As a fan of New Adult books and after a while when you read a lot of them, you can see similiar themes emerging through the stories and yet each book is different in it's own way and just as great. Falling for Autumn starts off with Autumn attending a frat party with her roommate Lexi and friend Carly. These girls see Autumn as the quiet and studious type, but what they don't know is that she has re-invented herself to be this way. During high school, she ended up being nicknamed "Whorey Dorey" and was the subject to harrasment, rumours and then attempted rape. Everyone she thought she could trust even Coach Bridges all played a part in her torment. Now she is off in College, as a different person when she attracts the attention of Blake Preston, the school's star footballer . Autumn though has no interest in jocks or players and tries to steer clear, but it seems Blake has taken this as a challenge. As the book goes on, we see Autumn and Blake starting to fall for each other but then we discover a different side of Blake where he tells Autumn she isn't good for him. Readers start to wonder what Blake's story is and about his past ? During the latter part of the book Autumn returns home and is shocked when she hears that Coach Bridges is being released from jail . During this time, Blake also meets her parents and they run into some of Autumn's tormenters including the one guy she thought she loved Hunter. What will happen though, when Autumn decides to surprise Blake at his house, when his sister and mother appear and recognition from Autumn's past hits her ? Can Autumn ever open her heart up again to Blake or will the truth push her over the edge ? Can Blake prove to Autumn that he loves her and that he is sorry he lied about his past and reasons for meeting her ?
Falling for Autumn reminded me of K.A Tucker's Ten Tiny Breaths and Jessica Sorensen's Violet and Luke Series.
