The Kids May Be Bad, But They Don't Deserve to Die.....
Something that I aim to do is provide readers with a variety of different genres , hence why their is such a mixed bunch reviewed on "The Phantom Paragrapher". For me , It's always fun discovering new authors but at the same time continuing to have your favourites and it's like Christmas everytime they release a new read for you to add to your to-read list.
Today's review is Lisa Jackson's latest book "Without Mercy" -2010
For half-sisters Jules and Shay the death of their dad has affected them in different ways . For Jules ,she is plagued by re-anactments of her father's death everytime she closes her eyes and Shay has a police record for drugs, theft and vandalism. When Shay is caught on her latest expedition and finds herself in front of a judge, the verdict reads Juvie or attend the Blue Rock Academy. This part reminded me of the movie "Stick It". Shay is then shipped off to the Blue Rock Academy, however all is not well at the Academy as a girl went missing and has not been found. Worried for Shay's safety , Jules applies undercover as the new history teacher. At the same time , another girl is murdered and one is missing and Shay is the number one suspect. Can Jules find the killer before it attacks the next girl and what is up with the odd teachers ? . In Without Mercy, we also find the truth of what really happened when Jules and Shay's father Rip was stabbed ?.
As always , Lisa Jackson lives up to her status as a fast-paced thriller writer as this is one book that you will not want to put down until you have devoured and found out who the killer is in the last couple of chapters.
