Nuns with Bad Habits
Today's review is a book that details what we think shouldn't happen in a convent. From the outside nuns and priests (well the occassional priest ) are seen as strict catholics, holy men of god, but as this book and remember it is a work of fiction, the nuns and priests in this novel are anything but holy behind closed doors.
Today reader's I bring you the first book in the Sister Mary Olga Fortitude series - "The Misadventures of Sister Mary Olga Fortitude" by Davis Aujourd'Hui-2009
When you think of nuns and priests, what is it that jumps to your mind? Spiritual, holy, no sinning done whatsoever. What would you think if you found out the background and what nuns and priests got up to behind closed doors? Are you ready to take a spiritual laughter journey and travel into the lives of those at Have a Heart convent, Wisconsin whilst looking through not rose-coloured glasses but through the eyes of Sister Mary Olga Fortitude. If so, then you are definitely in for a bumpy, chaotic and mischievous ride as each day Sister Mary Olga Fortitude reveals the going-ons in Have a Heart- the catholic equivalent of Gossip Girl from Constance and St Judes. We have the Reverend Mother whose former life involved the art of prostitution; the convent's chef is your ideal candidate for the role of Brokeback Mountain - Gay and a Cowboy, either that or better to join the Village People. Of course, what's a community without a nosy-parker , Priscilla Bunhead is the one who likes to open closet doors and who can forget our guide Sister Mary Olga Fortitude who has a likening for all Spirits not just the holy spirit and puffing away the kind that doesn't come from a lack of excercise.
For a fun , non-stop laugh at the Catholic convent who shows us that really life isn't to be taken seriously, look no further.
