Things that go Bump :)

Every now and again, I have an author who contacts me to review their Children's Picture books. I find it enjoyable as it gives you a chance to sit back and reminiscence on those early childhood days and as a Children's and Teens Librarian , it also provides me with a heads-up on new books :).

Review: "Bella Goes Bump In The Night" - Derek and Gina Roche-2010

"Bella the Great” is a series of children’s picture books (seven and counting) based entirely on our four year old daughter and her amazing imagination. Coupled with the life lessons that we’re trying to pass on and told in a manner that is entertaining for both child and parent alike, our books are guaranteed to be a family favorite for generation after generation. "Bella Goes Bump In The Night is the first book released and the only book available so far. Please check back often and sign our guestbook so that we can notify you when the next books become available. We hope you enjoy the world of Bella The Great".

All Bella wants is a peaceful night's sleep , but as we are about to find out this is an impossible task as beyond the night sky, their a many a things that go "Bump in the Night". With the current supernatural trend , this picture book fits in perfectly featuring creatures such as Zombies, Wizards, Warlocks, Ghouls and Minotaurs. My favourite quote in the story is "Leprechauns,Minotaurs, Cyclops - Oh My, Werewolves , Gremlins and Dragons who fly". This quote reminded me of the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy and her friends are singing Tigers , lions and bears , oh my. Bella the Great throughout the story holds a nice rhythm that the children will soon be able to join in , the book is short, sharp and sweet and will keep the child's attention. This is always a necessity when dealing with children's books. The Artwork , each page is detailed with gorgeous artwork of the creatures that go bump in the night and will keep the younger ones entertained with a full-page of colour.

This is one children's book, that I will be recommending to family and friends . A fun and interactive picture book to add to your collection.
