Review: Amidst Traffic - Michael Sauret
Review: Amidst Traffic - Michael Sauret- January 2013
Are you looking for something that you can pick up , read and then put down and so forth ? Are you a fan of Christian fiction and lover of short stories ? If you have answered YES to all three of those questions then Michael Sauret's book Amidst Traffic is the one for you. I'm not normally one for short stories and when I got this as a freebie, I obviously missed the memo and didn't look too closely to the cover as when I opened it and started reading I was surprised. The first short story called Three Straws was a touching one and reminded me of a cross between Noah Building the Ark , Moses getting ready and all his challenges to leading people out of Egypt and alright, I know it's weird but think back to the movie Charlie and The Chocolate Factory where Charlie's dad works in the toothpaste factory and everyday he brings home one or two bits of the toothpaste container's for Charlie to create his Chocolate factory monument. Imagine all the patience, that Charlie has and the faith that it will one day be complete. To me, that was what the first story showed, that if we pace ourselves then in the long run your hard work will pay off. Another favourite was the one where Ted heard God's Voice and ended up stopping a bank robbery by standing up in God's name and taking the bible verse to heart - Do not Fear, for I am with you says the Lord.
This collection of Short Stories were lovely and inspirational and at times a bit on the edgy side but in general if you are a Christian and looking for a Short Story collection for your bookshelf or even your Church Library - then this is the collection for you.
