Review: NYOD Red 3 - James Patterson and Marshall Karp
Review: NYPD Red 3 - Book #3 - James Patterson and Marshall Karp - March 2015
This month, I decided to
participate in an Instagram or as we bookish people call it a bookstagram
reading challenge where in May, we try and clear our TBR bookshelves with our
print copies. This was some good motivation for me as I have managed to read a
few and pass on a few that I won't ever read. One of the ones I have had for
years was NYPD Red 3 which of course is Book 3 in the series - not very
creative on the series names as each book is called NYPD Red and then the
number it is in the series. Like most of James Patterson's books that he
co-writes, NYPD Red 3 is one that you can easily pick up without having read
the previous books in the series and catch the gist of the story as most are
stand-alone action/adventure stories but with the same cops. I have read the
very first book of NYPD Red and remembered the main characters, Kylie and Zach.
In this book, the action/adventure falls when Hunter Alden's family is attacked
due to some bad financial decisions, he made in an attempt years ago to get
rich quickly. What he didn't count on though was his driver Peter to be
beheaded and his son Tripp to be kidnapped. Of course, things are never as they
seem as Tripp knows more about his kidnap situation than he is letting on and
if he's not careful, he is about to be double-crossed as the body count starts
to pile up. On the romance side, Kylie and her husband Spencer are having
marriage problems as he has gone back to his drug addict days and she has been
busy playing fire with fire as she and her partner Zach have a history, and
currently, his new girlfriend Cheryl is off comforting her ex-husband Fred as
her ex-MIL is dying. NYPD Red 3 was another great James Patterson read
with short chapters and lots of twists and turns designed to keep the reader
captive. If you are on the lookout for another mystery to add to your
list, then check out the NYPD Red series by James Patterson and Marshall Karp.
