VBT# Children who Dance in the Rain - Susan Justice
Review: Children who Dance in the Rain - Susan Justice - May 2023
This was such a cute picture
book as we meet Sophie who takes everything in her life for granted and gets
bored easily. Her family is busy planning a trip to India and Sophie can't wait
to visit the magical land of colours that she has created in her head. However,
when Sophie arrives with her family, it isn't what she thought and she is
disgusted at the mud houses and the overcrowded villages. That is until she
meets a group of orphans who live in the dump and as she watches them enjoying
life with near to nothing, she soon realizes how lucky she is in her life and that
she has a lot to be grateful for and should never take simple things like food,
vitamins, school and a roof over her head for granted as if someone who has
very little can be excited and happy with their life, then what does she have
to complain about? Children Who Dance in the Rain was also a beautifully
illustrated book thanks to Lena Bardy who captured the bright colours of India
and the scenery/environment on the pages of the book. This book is the perfect read
for children aged 4-8 years old.
