I have been on a mission to read Kiersten Modglin's backlist of books as I found them at the start of the year and loved her mystery/thriller settings. In The Family Secret, we meet Austyn Murphy who has just gotten engaged to Lowell Bass. Austyn and Lowell, are two worlds apart and it's never been a big deal but when Lowell's parents die, Austyn is thrown headfirst into a world of wealth and family drama. Lowell and Austyn head back to the Bass family home where she meets the other siblings Fallon and Dallas. Lowell is not the guy she fell in love with as tensions have been high. She puts it down to the fact that he is grieving, but when she finds the diary of a young girl who used to live in the Bass Mansion but is said to have died when she was seventeen after an affair with Simon Bass - Lowell's grandfather. She starts to ask questions and discovers that this family has a lot of skeletons in their closet and if she continues to ask too many questions, then instead of wearing a wedding dress - she will be wearing a body bag as the Bass protect their family name no matter what the consequence is. Is Austyn ready to be part of the Bass family or will she be frightened when she discovers their dark family history? Review: Steel Princess - Book #2 Royal Elite Series - Rina Kent - December 2019 At the end of Book #1, we were left on a cliffhanger of Elsa being pushed into the pool. At the beginning of book #2, she is saved by a newcomer to the school - Knox.  We can see some friendly flirting but nothing more going on between these two, but it riles up Aiden who still has this mindset of "if I can't have her, no-one can" especially since he is supposed to be engaged to Silver Queens. During Book #2 Elsa starts to recall some more memories and goes to Dr.Khan in hopes that he can open her Pandora's box and can restore her full memories of what happened before she was seven years old. We also catch a glimpse during this book of her past and why Aiden King's father blames her for his mother's death and why Aiden considered Elsa a ghost. Review: Dr. Strange Beard - Book #5 Winston Brothers Series - Penny Reid - July 2018 If there is a family that I love to read about it has been the Winston Brothers. This has to be one of my favorite book series out there as the brothers ; you can't help but fall in love with them all - with their funny quirks and their redneck comments.
