Review: Such Pretty Flowers - KL Cerra - February 2023

This book captured my attention from the striking floral cover and as soon as I read it, the book drew me in from the first chapter. The book starts with Holly out on the town with her roomie and best friend Rachael. She then gets the strangest text from her brother warning her that if something happens to him, the arrow points to Maura - his girlfriend. The next day, he is found dead and it is ruled a suicide. Holly can't stop thinking about the text as she knew her brother and near the end, he was spouting some weird things, but none of this happened till he met Maura. Holly has also found Maura a bit odd and this begins Holly leaving her flat and moving in with Maura to discover once and for all the truth about how her brother died as her things don't line up. Why would he warn her, if something wasn't right? As the book goes along, we read that Maura is all about flowers - some good ones but mostly it looks like the deadly ones, and everyone who gets in her way either dies or falls sick. Is Maura testing her experiments on her friends? When Holly finds a strange black rose dipped in blood, this leads her on a path to uncover the deadly truth and when more deaths and sickness start to pile up, she is determined more than ever to help get closure. However, Maura has been in this game for years and is respected in the "flower and herbal" world, and is a master manipulator and if Holly isn't careful, she may end up suffering the same fate as her brother Dane. Can Holly put an end to Maura before her own time is up? Find out in this fast-paced NA thriller with a cover to die for - Such Pretty Flowers by KL Cerra.
