Review: The Key to Charlotte - E.A West - October 2011
Have you read Unlocked by Karen Kingsbury ? It's about a boy named Holden who is severley autistic and a girl named Ella who teaches him to sing . It is one of my two all-time favourite books of Karen Kingsbury's. Reading The Key to Charlotte by E.A West , reminded me of that story. In my life , autism has always played a huge part as I have two siblings and a parent with autistic tendencies - they are not too bad on the spectrum but have some of the behaviours. In The Key to Charlotte, we meet 23yr old Charlotte, who is autistic and selective mute. She loves routine and can be anti-social due to her muteness. One day whilst cleaning the church , she meets Zakaria - (i love the way this is spelt as my brother's name is Zechariah) he is the new Children's ministry pastor. Zakaria and Charlotte hit it off immediately and soon the pair find themselves spending more and more time together , other's are worried though that the pair are getting too close. Can Charlotte and Zakaria ever be together properly ? Can Zakaria help Charlotte overcome her shyness and muteness ? Read and Weep as Charlotte moves slowly from becoming mute to singing such beauty with Zakaria's guidance and help.
A wonderful and emotional read that I recommend all to read and if you have read Unlocked by Karen Kingsbury , this shall follow .
