Review: The Queens of All Earth - Hannah Sternberg

Wanting a novel set in Barcelona ? A Coming of Age novel ?
Review: Queens of all the Earth - Hannah Sternberg- October 2011
Reading Queens of all the earth, shed a little bit of light on things and perspectives for me as the novel did start off not like I thought it would , as it started with Olivia arriving at College and having a psychotic catatonic breakdown and then moved on to three months later when Miranda and Olivia take a contiki tour around Barcelona, Spain. This is the part that I was able to connect with as my goal for 2013 is to go on a European Contiki Tour, it will be my first long period away from my family and the first time out of New Zealand including the North Island.
In Barcelona, we read as the girls accommodation is muddled up and the two girls end up not in the private room they ordered but in a dorm. The next morning, the two meet another two that are joining them on the tour - Mr Lenny Brown and his son Greg, these two were lucky enough to get a private room- read as we watch Miranda work her negotiation skills into swapping rooms. However , something seems off with the Browns and the pair are warned to stay away from them but as the novel develops Miranda and Olivia find themselves somehow connected with Lenny and Greg. The pair soon find themselves on a journey of independence and self-discovery , The Queens of All Earth is the perfect coming of age novel for all to read.
Inspired by E. M. Forster's classic novel A Room with a View, debut author Hannah Sternberg's Queens of All the Earth is a poetic journey of young love and self-awakening set against the beauty of Catalonia.
