Top Ten Tuesday - Most Anticipated Books for 2011
This week's Top Ten is one that I found it hard to stop at Number #10 as there are so many wonderful books being released that I want to add and my lists are always never-ending LOL
- You Dropped A Blonde on Me - Dakota Cassidy - "She was the perfect party-planning, haute-to-the max trophy wife. Now Maxine Cambridge is broke, unemployable and living with her mother and teenage son in a retirement village, with her self-esteem kicked to the curb. Until her geeky former classmate Campbell Barker returns, all grown-up- and off-the-scale smokin' hot. Campbell refuses to believe Max isn't that smart, funny girl he's crushed on since high school. The more Max tries to show him he's wrong, the more she rediscovers her long-retired mojo. Now, she's ready to throw down some payback on her ex-life and fight for what she deserves." Cassidy, who has written The Accidentals and The Hell paranormal series, says You Dropped a Blonde on Me is the first in a series based on ex-trophy wives who find themselves divorced and poverty-stricken.
- Beautiful Creatures - Lulu Taylor - "Few have ever seen the Bettancourt twins. Brought up in strict seclusion on their family's lavish estate, their past shrouded in secrecy, the girls have been virtual prisoners in their own home. But the night before their 21st birthday, at a lavish party held in the gardens of their home, the world is finally introduced to Flora and Octavia. On this momentous day the twins are finally free of their aunt and uncle's stifling and sinister care, and come into possession of a huge fortune. Nearly two years later and for the first time in their lives, the girls are living apart. Flora has fallen into a marriage that brings her nothing but heartache. Octavia and her extravagant boyfriend travel the world attending an endless procession of parties. But underneath her reckless exterior, Octavia knows there must be more to life and both sisters struggle with the legacy of their strange childhood. Life suddenly becomes a terrifying struggle that the sisters are ill-equipped to deal with. Before they can truly earn the freedom they crave, they need to recapture the closeness of their childhood and learn to fight together."
- The Women he Loved Before - Dorothy Koomson - She's Out of His Life, But is She Out of His Heart? is about a woman who married a widower and finds some unsettling truths when she looks into the couple's past. The synopsis says: "Libby has a nice life with a gorgeous husband and a big home by the sea. But over time she is becoming more unsure if Jack has ever loved her - and if he is over the death of Eve, his first wife. When fate intervenes in their relationship, Libby decides to find out all she can about the man she hastily married and the seemingly perfect Eve. Eventually Libby stumbles across some startling truths about Eve, and is soon unearthing more and more devastating family secrets. Frightened by what she finds and the damage it could cause, Libby starts to worry that she too will end up like the first woman Jack loved."
- The Secret Shopper Affair - Kate Harrison - Best mates Sandie, Emily and Grazia have been through so much together: widowhood, divorce and redundancy for starters. They thought they'd be friends forever, but they reckoned without the dividing effects of men and money... Shopping guru Sandie is on a roll, with a baby on the way and Toby, her posh totty partner, proposing every five minutes. But when she realises the legendary Garnett's Department Store is teetering on the edge of bankruptcy, she knows she's the only one to save it, even though Toby's mother seems determined to scupper the rescue bid. For Emily, Sandie's apparently perfect life is a bitter pill to swallow, especially as Emily's been banned from having a second child by her boyfriend, Will, who is more interested in saving the planet than her. As the rifts grow, will she learn to stand on her own two feet, or give in to a new temptation? Glamorous Grazia tries to play peace-maker but she's facing her own big decision: whether to develop her new career as an erotic embroidery artist... or give up on her talent for the sake of her new, needy lover? Can the magic of retail bring the secret shoppers back together, or is it time to shut up shop for good?
- Summer and The City - Book #2 : The Carrie Diaries - Candace Bushell - follows Carrie Bradshaw as she hits the bright lights of New York for the first time. The synopsis says: "Summer is a magical time in New York City and Carrie is in love with all of it - the crazy characters in her neighbourhood, the vintage clothing boutiques, the wild club scene, and the mysterious new guys who have entered her life. She's finally in a real writing class, taking her first steps towards fulfilling her dream. And then there's the fact that she gets to live in Samantha Jones' apartment. Carrie learns to navigate her way around the Big Apple, going from being a country "sparrow" as Samantha likes to call her, to the person she always wanted to be.
