Fear : 13 Stories of Suspense and Horror
Wanting a good collection of teen stories that are less paranormal and supernatural and more downright scary horror and suspense filled.
Review : Fear - 13 Stories of Suspense and Horror - Edited by RL Stine - September 2010
R. L. Stine, often called the Stephen King of children's literature, has called upon the best and brightest young adult authors to contribute to FEAR. With stories by Meg Cabot, Heather Brewer and others, FEAR is sure to have you begging for a nightlight and checking under the bed, twice, before you even think of closing your eyes. Thirteen original stories await that will keep you turning pages and looking over your shoulder.
From Stine comes a series of twists on an initiation challenge that leaves readers guessing, did he or didn't he. Heather Graham serves up a Halloween treat where the hunter unexpectedly becomes prey and although most readers will see through the plot from the first, its still fun seeing how it plays out. A babysitter with a knack for soothing a troubled yet talented blind boy is the subject of Ryan Brown's "Jeepers Peepers" while the babysitter in Jennifer Allison's "The Perfects" discovers the family has a taste for exotic meat.
And , of course as the theme of Vampires and Werewolves are still very popular among teens and YA , there is of course a few stories and one you will find enjoyable and a laugh which features a jock Werewolf and a Bookworm Vampire.
There's something for everyone in Fear and the best thing about it is that it's easy to read and each short story is only a few pages long.
