On the lookout for a new teen read ? Something fun and light-hearted , that has references to one of my favourite books "Wuthering Heights"?
Review: The DUFF - Kody Keplinger - September 2010
I'd had this book on my to-read list for a while and I had been tossing and turning and umming and aahing over whether I should read it and is it a me book. To my surprise, I loved it so much and once I got stuck into the book I actually could not put the story down.In The DUFF , we meet Bianca - she is one of three friends . Her two friends Jessica and Casey, are the girls every guy wants to date and Bianca , she is their sidekick. She hasn't ever thought much about being the third wheel , until one night they are out and Wesley - the school's playboy calls her The Duff - the Designated Ugly Fat Friend . According to him every friend has somebody known as the Duff, someone who isn't as pretty as they are, thin as they are etc. Annoyed at Wesley, she kisses him in the spur of the moment. Still seething with hate, she finds herself paired with him on a school project and from there a forbidden no-strings attached romance occurs. As the novel goes along, we read about their romance, Bianca's way of escaping from reality but what happens though when the guy she actually has a crush on becomes single and is interested in Bianca - it's goodbye Wesley and Hello Toby Tucker. When Toby asks Bianca to read Wuthering Heights, she never realised that this was the one book that would forever change the rest of her high school life as she starts to link her current life's statuses to the characters of Wuthering Heights. Herself, as Catherine ,Wesley as Heathcliff and Toby as Edward. Can you meet your one true soul mate in High School ? Can you find love even if you are the DUFF of your friendship.
Find out all this and more in The Duff by Kody Keplinger , a novel that will surprise you with it's power to pull you in.
