Top Ten Tuesday : Most OCD Book Habits

Today's Top Ten Tuesday is a hard one , the top 10 OCD book Habits we have :

  1. Series : If I read one book in the series and I love it , I have to read the whole entire series and in order.
  2. Books that are Movies/TV Shows : If a book has been made into a movie or TV show and I see the show/movie first, I have to read the book.
  3. Amendment to the Above - If a book that I have read previously is being made into a film or show, I have to re-read the book.
  4. Covers - I am a definite judge by the cover girl , if it doesn't have a nice cover I won't pick it up or if it has an amazing cover I will buy the book .
  5. Buying Books - When new books are released that I want , I have to buy them even if it would take me like forever to read them.
  6. Adding books to my TBR List - I am forever constantly adding books to my to be read list so in fact it is true to say that it is never-ending
  7. Library Books - Working in a library, though I have a good stack of books at home sitting to be read , I am compelled to still borrow books from the library
  8. Audiobooks - I utterly refuse to listen to Audiobooks , I tried once and it did not do it for me
  9. Bookaholic - Books are my choice of drugs , they are my addiction and I can say that I really am a true bookaholic.
  10. Books -- No matter where I am , I have to have a book on me at all times and I have to read a book on my breaks at work ,

  1. WHAT??!?! You no likey audiobooks?! Well, you've just not listened to the right ones. Start with Harry Potter or Narnia. BRILLIANT!!! I couldn't tear my ears away.

  2. I share a few of your quirks... not an audiobook either, they just take too long! I can read 4 books in the time it takes me to listen to one! Plus I kept falling asleep and losing my place, lol.

    1. Exactly as my dad likes audiobooks and he downloaded The Hunger Games and it was 11 hours long and I was like but the book only took me just approx 1 to 2 hours to read.

  3. The only time I like audiobooks is when I'm doing a LONG train journey on my own.

Brilliant list! Buying books + adding to the TBR pile and list is obviously compulsory because otherwise you'd reach the end. Obviously that would be bad. ;)

  4. I am definitely guilty of 1 and 2! I love comparing adaptations and I don't like leaving things unfinished - even if I don't like a series! Great list

  5. I've never tried listening to audiobook before. Nothing lie holding a paperback and curling up in your comfy spot to read it.

  6. Hi Paula! I'm a cover girl too. If it's a pretty one, I'm sold. This had led to disappointment in the past but still I can't resist. I was sort of against audio books too at one time but then I listened to Where She Went by Gayle Foreman and it was AMAZING! Will Grayson/Will Grayson was also quite good, so it may just be a case of finding the right one. Great post.

Thanks for the follow on our blog: The Readers Den. I just followed yours too. :)

  7. The only thing that I don't have exactly in common with you here is the audiobook thing. I'm very picky about them though and I only listen when I'm driving or doing yardwork.

All the rest? It's like we're book twins. :D

    Great list!

  9. I have tried audiobooks this year or last and it surprisingly worked out for me, though I still don't want to listen to someone else reading a novel. Sometimes they just read it differently, so.. *g*

  11. I have to read all of the books in a series (if I enjoyed the first one) too. And of course in order (just so things make sense and there are no spoilers).

I actually try to read the book before I see the show or watch the movie, though I care more about reading a book that was adapted into a film than reading a book that was adapted into a television show (because usually the books that become shows are long, and very different from their TV counterparts).

I love watching film/TV adaptations to books I've already read too!

I try not to, but it's so difficult not to judge a book by its cover. And the cover SHOULD grab the reader, in my opinion, though I know some awesome books with unfortunate covers.

Haha, I wish my TBR list shrunk. I think it has over a hundred books, fifty of which I own, that I still need to read!

And YES, I bring books with me everywhere too (even social dinner gatherings, lol).

    Fantastic list!

  12. I love your list! I really don't like audiobooks either. I'm glad I am not the only one. Also, I too bring books everywhere, including social gatherings. You just never know when you might get a chance to read one.

  13. I agree on so many points on your list too! I always have to read a book in the series in order, also I have to read a book before I watch the film, otherwise I can never can back into the book! I didn't realise I had so many ocds about reading! :)

  14. I have many of the same compulsions! I always have a book on my person, I have to read the book before the movie and my TBR list is definitely never-ending! However, I love audiobooks. I do prefer a single reading and I won't listen to full-cast audions, but I don't drive anywhere without a book anymore and walking the dog is more enjoyable when I have someone telling me a story! Thanks for stopping by!

  15. We are OCD twins. :) That looks like MY OCD book habits! LOL! Every one of them sounds just like me, especially the cover one and numbers 9 and 10. I don't like audio books either, I just tried to listen to The Night Circus, but I had to force myself to finish it. I will buy a book if it has a pretty cover. That's the reason I have not read Divergent yet, I don't have Insurgent.
I have the same problems with adding books to my TBR pile and never getting around to them because I would rather get books from the library.

  18. I've got a couple of series that I'm in the middle of and haven't been able to read the newest books in them yet, but I have yet to abandon a series completely. So I can completely relate to that. Nice list! Thanks for stopping by my blog!
