Review: The Beginning After - Kiersten Modglin - February 2018

One of the authors that I have decided to read on their backlist is Kiersten Modglin and what better way than to use Kindle Unlimited? In The Beginning After the book starts with Peighton not seeing her husband and son, and then heads off to work. During her day she gets a bad feeling and picks up her son Kyle. As they pull up to their home, they see a range of police cars and ambulances, etc. It turns out her husband Todd was found dead at the bottom of the stairs. Was it an accident or murder? During the investigation, Peighton meets Officer Caleb Nealson. He believes that the same person who killed his wife Sarah is the same one who murdered her husband Todd. He just doesn't have concrete proof but believes it was someone who goes by the name Beezelbub. Throughout the novel, Caleb and Peighton get closer and we see sparks fly but Todd isn't the only one with dark secrets as Peighton has secrets of her own about her family including Kyle's father and her marriage to Todd. Can Peighton and Caleb work together to find out the truth about what happened to their spouses and what happens when Peighton discovers she is much closer to the truth than she ever realized and what happened to Caleb's wife is tied into her family's secret, something that would have ruined her husband's political career if it had ever been revealed. I found this particular one an average read and a hard review to write, but am glad that I got it on Kindle Unlimited. I am however looking forward to reading the rest of Kiersten Modglin's books.

Review: Steel Princess - Book #2 Royal Elite Series - Rina Kent - December 2019 At the end of Book #1, we were left on a cliffhanger of Elsa being pushed into the pool. At the beginning of book #2, she is saved by a newcomer to the school - Knox.  We can see some friendly flirting but nothing more going on between these two, but it riles up Aiden who still has this mindset of "if I can't have her, no-one can" especially since he is supposed to be engaged to Silver Queens. During Book #2 Elsa starts to recall some more memories and goes to Dr.Khan in hopes that he can open her Pandora's box and can restore her full memories of what happened before she was seven years old. We also catch a glimpse during this book of her past and why Aiden King's father blames her for his mother's death and why Aiden considered Elsa a ghost. Review: Dr. Strange Beard - Book #5 Winston Brothers Series - Penny Reid - July 2018 If there is a family that I love to read about it has been the Winston Brothers. This has to be one of my favorite book series out there as the brothers ; you can't help but fall in love with them all - with their funny quirks and their redneck comments.
