Review: Ghost Diamond - Agent Amelia Series - Michael Broad- October 2011

Do you love stories like Nancy Drew and the movie Harriet the Spy ? What about Jane Blonde , do you aspire to become a secret spy agent ?. Then Michael Broad's series Agent Amelia is just what you need . Ghost Diamond includes three different cases and includes a schoolgirl named Amelia who is all about becoming a secret agent one day. The first case takes her on a schooltrip and causes her to follow her teacher whom she is sure a master criminal and is using the schooltrip as a cover story. We read as Amelia tracks the teachers library books with topics such as Hypnotism and Ancient Jewels and Curses to the changing of shoes. We see as Amelia also comes complete with a disguise , which the pictures made me laugh. The book also contains two other stories. I think that after reading the first story, that Agent Amelia is the girls version of hit book series "Zac Power" and Agent Jack Stalwart. The level of language is suitable for children as young as 7-8yrs as includes not just words but the occasional picture throughout which indicates this as an early reader Chapter book.
