Finding Home: A Novel

Review: Finding Home - Melanie Rose - January 2011

I've never really been a big fan of Melanie Rose's writings as I tend to find them a bit too far out for me and odd, but I was attracted to this book by it's amazing cover . Finding Home starts the story with a women travelling in a car whose car goes over a bridge and gets stuck in a snowstorm. The woman in question is found laying in the snow by locals and brought to the house of Vincent and his daughter Jadie.  The woman has no recollection of her memory at all and decides to adopt the name Kate , as soon as Kate arrives the little girl Jadie starts to talk and for everyone but Kate this is a miracle as she hasn't spoken in two years since her sister Amber died and her mother Cheryl disappeared.  Eager to find out who she is , Tara's - Jadie's housekeeper and nurse's brother Colin runs a hypnotherapy clinic decides to hypnotize Kate and open up her memory bank ,however this is where things get a tad weird as Melanie is used to writing, Kate starts to have memories of a past life as Kitty somebody born over 100yrs ago. We also discover the truth of what happened to Cheryl . Finding Home is an interesting and enjoyable read but what annoyed me was that when they discovered Kate's car and belongings, we did not get to see who Kate really was or about who she was in the present moment . I think personally if we did , then I would have given this book a 5/5 but due to the ending and the mere annoyance, it will however recieve a 4/5.
