Review : King by Right of Blood and Might - Anna L. Walls
I've decided to use the castle image for today's book as it symbolised with two meanings, the first is that it is a Historical setting with a castle , Knights and a King as well as the successor of the throne - a Prince , the second is that this book has touches of what could be considered as fantasy and this castle being the one from the Disney Films opening credits.
Review: King of Right by Blood and Might - Anna L. Walls - April 2008
Are you a fan of historical fiction with a taste of fantasy , how about novels written in the format of a diary entry but in third person narrative ? This suited me well as though I love the diary formats of journal writing in my fiction , I have always been more prone to enjoying the third person narrative instead of first person.
It came to the thinking of the cuurent King Aidyn that he soon will have to pass his throne onto his son Prince Harris O'Aidyn. Now this would have been handed and dealt with like normal royalty successions occur, but in this case our King Aidyn lived a reclusive life as King , paranoid and all . This was caused due to the death of his father and the results of the aftermath of the former King's passing with the country of Pennland being destroyed via it's entire infrastruture collasping like the walls of Jericho and many of the people of Pennland were captured and taken away to live the rest of their lives as slaves.
So what the King decided to do in order to raise his son up to the correct standards of holding a kingdom down is that he sent is son to the nearing country and King in the South , to learn his ways of successfully running a country. The young Prince Harris was also given on his journey a mission, to assemble an army, train them up and once ready -retreat back to Pennland and fight to reclaim their country and land and restore it to it's original state.
As the story progresses , we see arise many 'a' blocks from family issues, to relationships and then that worrisome nagging voice whether he is up to and ready to run a country and step into his father and before that Grandfather's shoes.
This novel is for fans of authors like Trudi Canavan, Tad Williams and Robert Jordan as well as readers who love the Arthurian era of Knights in shining armour.
