Review: Another Dawn - Kathryn Cushman
As a person who has family members with autism , I tend to have a soft spot for novels that touch on them and the other thing I love is those novels that like to go outside of the box and touch on subjects that no one would normally. Nowadays, I find alot of Christian Fiction authors are touching in a godly way on topics that may seem controversial in today's society and that spark up alot of emotions.
Review: Another Dawn - Kathryn Cushman - February 2011
Grace Graham has lived her life as healthy as she possibly could as alot of unhealthy choices ruined hers and her friends lives. When Grace left for college , her mother passed away and Grace blamed it on her father and his smoking, which means that her mother's death could have been something like Lung cancer, though it is not really defined in the book. The second reason is that her boss Jasmine's boy Colin developed Autism due to recieving his MMR vaccination , after hearing this Grace decided against immunising her son Dylan. When Grace breaks up with her fiancee Sean and her sister Jana rings saying she needs help, Grace jumps at the opportunity as it will give her a chance to clear her head. However, whilst on holiday in Shoal Creek , Dylan ends up sick at first a fever and soon it seems like he has the measles. Unfortunately due to the fact that Dylan was not vaccinated , it meant that the measles spread and soon the town is in an outbreak of measles with babies, children and even elderly people sick. The town is in an uproar and of course they are all pointing the blame at Grace. What happens next is the controversial topic To Vaccinate or Not Vaccinate -that is the question ? and amongst all the arguments and discussions, will Grace realise the power of forgiveness as no matter what happens her family stands behind her in her time of need. This Christian fiction book is ideal for any parent who has chosen to not vaccinate their child due to autism research.
