Review: Wicked Girls - A Novel of the Salem Witch Trials - Stephanie Hemphill - July 2010
When I first picked up this book, I thought it would be a modern day version of the Salem Witch Trials , a bit like how Jodi Picoult's book "Salem Falls" was a modern take using the tale as an inspiration. However , it ended up becoming the actual tale of the real Salem Witch trials just in a fictionalized version. It told the tales of five girls who became the witch accusers and testified falsely of women that were condemned as witches. The girls ranged from age 8 to 18. The tale of Wicked Girls is written in the format also of a poetry book in verse , similar to how author Ellen Hopkins writes and lays out her stories. There's not much else to say about this book other than that if you are a fan of the age-old tale of the Salem Witch Tales and can stomach a novel written in verse then it is right up your alley.
