Review: 47 Echo - Shawn Kupfer
It's interesting what you discover when you well - discover new publishers and authors as I always thought that Carina Press only focused on Erotic Fiction etc but I found out that they also write mystery thrillers and Science-Fiction , Military stories.
Review: 47 Echo - Shawn Kupfer - Jan 2011
As I said above I didn't realise that Carina Press did these type of Military novels until I discovered it on Netgalley http://www.netgalley.com/ . Are you looking for a nice war and military novel to read ? It's the year 2019 and Russia has just been taken over by Chinese and North Korean Forces and it's up to 47 Echo to help save the day . Though as we read the novel we found out that 47 Echo only contains a couple of soldiers or as they want to be more politically correct ex-convicts. Half-chinese Nick Morrow has been let out of prison and conscripted as part of his parole and probation into a unit titled 47-Echo, they are basically the suicide squad in the war, your front liners. Under the command of a Marine Corps with nothing but contempt for its squadron of felons, they are on a mission to defend what's left of war-ravaged Russia.
A half-Chinese drifter, much isn't expected of Nick. Like the other members of 47 Echo, he's viewed as little more than cannon fodder. However, Nick's sense of honor, analytical mind and skills on the battlefield just might be what the squad needs to survive the meat-grinder that is the front lines of this bloody war. But can Nick himself survive the brutal crimes that haunt his past and will the fact that he is half-chinese give him a bit of a leeway in the war of the worlds ?
If you enjoy military novels and authors like Andy McNab , Clive Cussler , Iain Gale , Robert Goddard and Robert Ludlum then Shawn Kupfer and his book 47 Echo is one to add to your reading list.
