Review: Third Degree - Julie Cross
Review: Third Degree - Julie Cross - March 2014
Third Degree by Julie Cross reminded me of the similiar writing style to Jennifer Blackwood's Unethical and Foolproof. Third Degree introduces us to Izzy Jenkins aka Dr. Isabel Jenkins MD who by the way is only 18 years old. How is this possible, you are thinking ? Well, Izzy Jenkins is a child progidy who was homeschooled and then went to college at 12 years old and by the time she was 18 , she had three PHD's under her belt and was already to move onto the next step - getting into the John Hopkins Medical Residency programme. That was the plan until she failed, the first thing she has ever failed at . Now she must take six months off to re-discover what she wants and then she can re-apply for the following year. This part reminded me a bit of the beginning of the TV show Hart of Dixie when Zoe Hart was already for her residency, only to be told they wouldn't be giving it to her as she needed to find a way to improve her bedside manner as she was a great doctor but not a people person. As Izzy is only 18 years old though, she can pass as a freshman starting a new year at College. Now with only time on her hands , she can get the college experience she missed out the first time around. This time College to Izzy will be about learning friendships, all about boys and partying and in her case no hooking up with Professors but RA's are allowed.
