Beautiful - Cindy Martinusen-Coloma
Whenever I choose a book , I tend to go for three things .
- Have I read this author before ? "List of Favourite Authors
- Is the cover attractive ? "Most Books I read have been because of the amazing coverart"
- Sypnosis/Blurb . Does the book sound like an interesting read, something that I will enjoy ?
Being perfect though as Ellie is about to find out is definitley not as great and easy as people think. When a tragedy strikes Ellie's family . It hits her hard enough, to take a step back and look at her life in the perspective of is being perfect everything it claims to be? Is her life actually worth it , the one she has been striving for , for all her life ?
Ellie soon discovers what it is to be herself and the author Cindy has portrayed the character of Ellie as someone who is an inspirational character and one that every one of us no matter whether we are on the in-crowd or the out-crowd can relate too.
I loved the interaction between the heroine and the guys in her life. There were some amazing heroes and secondary characters in this book. Even the parents were genuine and believable. I didn't see any plastic characters or artificial faith. This story had depth and heart. It in no way trivialized the trauma this girl went through and did a great job pointing out how sometimes what people say in awkward situations just hurts people more . The verse God has a plan for each and everyone of us rings true in Beautiful, but grieving people don't necessarily want to hear that when they are hurting.
Throughout the book , their is a constant blog called "The Out-Crowd", this reminded me alot of Gossip Girl's blog and in some ways the characters of Beautiful by Cindy Martinsen-Coloma had similarities from Ellie being the popular topic of Gossip Girl and the perfect one as like Serena Van Der Woodsen and her boyfriend Ryan seemed alot like a mixture between Dan Humphrey and Nate Archibald. We also had the best friend role Vanessa who seemed a mixture between Blair Waldorf and Little Jenny Humphrey and finally Megan ( Ellie's sister) who seemed again a mixture between Jenny Humphrey and Dan's friend Vanessa.
