Five Go Glamping

Review: Five Go Glamping - Liz Tipping - August 2015
I was drawn to this book through the title "Five Go Glamping" and thought it might have been similar to Bruno Vincent's adult Enid Blyton stories. In a way, the book did pay homage to Enid Blyton with having the Four friends and their dog. We have the four friends - Fiona, Steph, Sinead and Kirk and their dog Brian Harvey. This part made me giggle as my partner's name is Bryan Harvey. So whenever I saw the dog's name mentioned, it made me connect more with the story. Fiona has found herself in a dead-end job and in a relationship that seriously isn't going anywhere with a douche named Connor. When Fiona and her friends are offered a trip to a music festival and staying in a luxury yurt, they think Why not? And head to the countryside. It is on this trip that Fiona meets Sam - the local pub owner and the pair get talking, and Fiona finds herself doing what she loves - cooking and creating meals. Over the next few days, Fiona will start to evaluate her life and realize that she hasn't been living and that maybe it's time to go spontaneously. I haven't read a chick lit book in a while as I got sick of them all being the same thing over and over again, but this read was refreshing and nice for a change. If you want a Brit Lit read, love music, friendships, laughter, and tears then Five Go Glamping is the read for you, and it will also turn you off becoming a cat lady if you are headed down that road. NO CATS FOR ME.
