Book Number 8 in a series titled "Crimson City" , Liz Maverick continues to bring us more Vampires, Werewolves, Rogue Hunters, Mechs and Human interactions and mayhem.

Review : Crimson and Steam - Book #8 : Crimson City Series - Liz Maverick-2009

We see in Crimson and Steam , that the world of Crimson City is in danger , the humans are preparing for war and installing the plan what is known as "Total Recall" which sounds like something out of an action movie or actually I think it was the name of one of Arnold's movies lol.
In Crimson and Steam , we witness the marriage of two allies Marius Dumout - a Vampire from the House of Dumont and Tatiana - a Werewolf princess. Though of course , Marius love is not for Tatiana but in fact for a human Jillian . Jillian is by day a newspaper tabloid reporter , but for Marius she is his Girl Friday. I've been on a Girl Friday buzz for the last two days lol.
On the night of Marius wedding to Tatiana , he senses Jillian is in trouble and races to her side to discover a dead body - one belonging to Gregory Bell - a Vampire or so he used to be .
A closer examination at his body, shows that Gregory contracted a virus of sorts which turned him from Vampire to Human unfortunately instead of completely curing him , it left him for dead.
Now on a race against time Marius with Jillian' assistance must find out the cause of his death and how in fact it was able to change into a human for a short period of time.
In searching for the cure, we are transported back to the year 1851 , where we meet a gardener/draper Charlotte Paxton and Lord Edward Vaughn and among other names Jane St. Giles who is related to the House of St.Giles.
In reading their letters and diaries, we discover the origins of the Inventor's Club , Mechs and hopefully seek out the hidden cure or cause .
In this process , will Marius realise that he has foolishly chosen duty over love and will he finally be able to give his heart to his one soulmate Jillian and if he can , what will happen to his wife Werewolf Tatiana?
A novel that includes a mixture of Steampunk, Romance, Paranormal and Supernatural as well as a bit of Historical attributes mixed in one big literary pot.
