Review : Rise of the Deva'shi: A Chronicle of Parthalan - Jennifer Allis Provost- 2009

Latera was 10 years old when she was taken from her parents the King and Queen of Gannera , one day she was at home playing with her baby sister Sasha, the next she was caught up in a whirlwind and transported to the land of Fae . An entirely different world with no way home , Latera all scared , hungry and cold finds comfort in the stables . In the morning she is found by the stable's owners and welcomed into their family , it is in the family where she begins to learn to blend in and what it is like to be a servant rather than the princess she was born to be . Six years pass and Latera is now sixteen years old when she is confronted by the Lords of the land. It is at this stage , her facial features have started to change and she is day by day starting to resemble more an elfin type creature rather than the human she is .
Latera accompanies the lords on a hunting trip of sorts and soon finds herself facing down demons and other creatures. As time passes , Latera seems more certain that she will never be able to return to her family and will stay forever in the land of fae and live a destiny of hunting demons as a Deva'shi . We soon discover Latera must find the courage to face her destiny wherever it may lead her , Will it lead her back to her family and hometown of Gannera or will it lead someplace she never imagined in her life ?.
An enjoyable and enchanting read that will keep readers mesmerised till the very last page. The Rise of Deva'shi is a book that once you get started reading, you won't want to put it down.
